Title: "Two Views"

Photoshop work
It wasn't my first time using photoshop, but the last time I used it was last summer. Since that I didn't have to chance to use it. I remembered basic things about it. It was a good lesson for me of how to be very patient when working with a not cooperative computer. First I edited the picture of the eyes, added light, saturation etc. My first idea was to create 3x the same picture of my eyes under each other but the two flags that would go into the eyes, would be blended in in each photo differently.

Meaning behind the piece
This digital collage shows a big chunk of my life. It shows how I as a child and teenager have the experience of being half Polish and half American. I was born and raised for 16 years in Poland, Warsaw. Until recently this summer I moved to the USA, to finish of high school. I always stood out of the crowd. You could say I'm different. My father taught me the polish language and all the cultural aspects of it, while my mom taught me english and the cultural aspects of America. By moving here it gave me a greater understanding of the differences, social life, schools, cities etc. I'm getting the chance to experience the two world I was born into, but now I'm able to experience them first hand. That's why the white lines that separate my cropped pieces mean. They dived two rectangular's. Two words, two cultures, two languages. That's where my artist inspiration comes from. People may think that I'm put under to much pressure of moving into another continent, switching schools during junior year, creating everything from the start. Yes it was scary at the beginning, leaving all my childhood, home, my city where I grew up, where I first took my first steps, my friends and my dad. It was a chance that I would never be able to have again. It was my choice to leave and I wanted a change. Changes are good in life, beginning a new chapter in your life. When life gives you the chance to begin a new journey, don't hesitate, take the chance. Take the risk, step out of you comfort zone, you never know what life might give you next.

Artist Inspiration
My artist inspiration for this art work is Barbara Kruger. She is an American conceptual/pop artist. Most of her work contains of black & white images with red and white text on them. The main issues she does her art work about are politics, mass media/advertising and gender equality. For me her work greatly inspires and touches peoples feelings as they look at it. With the powerful slogans she uses, that's why I decided to choose her. I wanted my digital college to have a big meaning behind, showing my life.
