Title: "Wounded"

Collecting pieces
Dry Point workFirst I sketched out in my sketchbook a heart with broken glasses pieces in it. After that I took the plexiglass and the inscriber and carved out my work. At first it was slightly hard to get the right depth and size of the lines being carved. I would carve the line too thick, because I really didn't know how it will look. The next step was to put a coat of ink on the plexiglass so everything would be covered in ink. After that I took a piece of newspaper and wiped all the ink except in the parts which were suppose to stay. I put the paper into a bucket with water for 8 min to let it soak. After 8 min, I let the paper dry on towels. Lastly I took the paper and my print to the machine which did the rest for me.

Meaning behind my piece
With "Wounded" I wanted to show how all of us can be broken, hurt. Some people are more open about their emotions, they let others know how they are feeling at any time of the day. But some people just don't feel good talking about their emotions. They don't feel the need to tell others how they feel. Even those people who don't show their feelings outwardly , they definitely show it on the inside. That's why I have glass pieces in the heart, it represents people who feel emotions inside even if they don't show it outside to the rest of the world. I count myself in that group of people. I don't always show how I feel and I'm perfectly fine with that. I don't like to talk about how I feel. When someone tells me that I don't show any emotions, it's not true. I'm not a cold hearted person with no emotion. I do feel emotions. I simply just don't show them all the time to others. I'm not one the type of person that will go to someone and pour out my problems. I'm able to figure out a solution for them by myself. If its gets out of control and I can't handle it anymore I will tell someone that I need help.
Inspiration
My artist inspiration for this art pice is Banksy. Banksy is an English-based graffiti artist, political activist and film director whose real identity is unknown to us. People close to him know his identity, but for the rest of the world we can only wonder who he might be. The work that inspired me to do my own is the Bandaged Heart.
