Urban Landscape

Meaning
The meaning behind my work is with the use of light I wanted to show how in all big cities even with tall buildings there still can be light. The light stands for the grace and peace each city has. The lights bring a needed sense of harmony to a large busy city .
Process
The first thing I did was to buy a wooden squared box 12x12 inches. The next step was to create a design on the box, using only four lines. We got the chance to show our progress work to one of the professors from MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design) he helped us with improvements and guided us to a better direction for our design. The next step was to create with wooden blocks our urban landscape. I used wood, various shapes and sizes, fake trees and a blue string. Glueing everything down with wood glue and regular glue.

Artist Inspiration
My artist inspiration for this work is Daniel Libeskind. He is a Polish- American architect as well as an professor and set designer. His work is visible all around the world, from building the Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany to Whol Center Ramat-Gan in Israel. The work that inspired me was a skyscraper named Złota 44, ("Golden 44") located in Warsaw, Poland. At 192 meters tall, Złota 44 is the third tallest skyscraper in Warsaw. This skyscraper inspired me because its unique, it stands out of all the other buildings around him. Having blue and white straps catches everyones eyes. In my piece I also decided to create a similar building in the center of my city.
ReflectionI enjoyed doing this project. It was something I have never done before, it opened up another door for me, it showed me how architects build our cities in ways we wouldn't imagine. With the style, shape, size, angles all these things combined can create a masterpiece. I enjoyed doing this piece because all of us would design different cities, our own urban landscape created by our imagination.
